About the Author
Anne Rice was born in New Orleans in 1941. She is the author of many bestselling novels, including the widely successful Vampire Chronicles. Unique!

The stories in this trilogy aren't exactly for everyone. It is graphic, and bowls over what normal people would call "boundaries". It is a fantasy based on a subculture that isn't for everyone. It is very interesting to read, it goes places I never would have thought of. It is thought provoking. It is, of course, well written, hard to put down, and one of the erotica classics. It isn't really in the same class as 50 Shades as far as I'm concerned. This particular cover art is beautiful and my favorite version of the books!

I love Anne Rice books

I love Anne Rice books, however, this book had very little plot that I could find. I kept waiting for something other to happen, something more interesting than constant S and M, abuse and belittlement. I got halfway through and did not finish it.

but is fantastic none the less

This novel is different than what one normally finds with Anne Rice novels, but is fantastic none the less. Because it's Anne Rice, the writing is supreme, particularly within the erotica realm of fiction. It is extremely graphic and morally twisted, and as such is not for the faint of heart or for those who only want some light BDSM fun to spice up their personal sex life. If, however, the epitome of hardcore does not bother you (and you're a fan of spankings in erotica) then this is an excellent read (I devoured it in a weekend).

The Joshua Principle Leadership Secrets of RSVPselling

This is the most holistic leadership and sales book that I have read.
The story brings center the value of the individual as a family member, customer, sales person and leader! It grabs your attention--and feeds you sound principals that makes sense. Some of what you read--you know--but at the same time it makes you think deeper about the sales process. The appendix it self is worth the price of the book.
I recommend this book for any individual that is going into sales, is a professional sales person and sales trainers and managers. It does not matter how little or how much sales experience you have. This is a journey that will help you navigate a successful path! It's a book you want to have at an easy reach when reviewing your sales opportunities.
This is a must read for all leaders as well!
This is a book that will be your best investment for the year--if you read it!!

Best book every written on how to think when selling to the Enterprise

This book found me. I had compiled a wish list of over 120 top sales books on Amazon including enterprise selling, strategic account planning, inside sales, corporate sales, you name it. Tony's name came up around debates about what sourced Challenger and had Challenger indeed replaced SPIN and Solution selling methods of old. Those answers you'll have to explore on his blog. Tony is a rare voice as an author as he is a doer. He is someone that ran highly performing teams in APAC for top software firms and consistently executed. It is rare for someone to so cleverly articulate strategy who also can implement it in the real world. The use of story to imbue the deeper philosophy of sales sets this apart. I find myself thinking RSVP in almost every major negotiation and business situation I find myself in now. I believe this is the best sales book ever written and what's even wilder about it is, the more classic sales books I read, they all seem to fit right in under this primary framework. Give this book to people you care about, it's truly a gift. Thinking strategically is never simple, nor is establishing a trusted advisor relationship with C-Level executives. How on Earth might one do that? 99% of books tell you TO do that, this is the HOW and most importantly, the WHY. You'll start seeing yourself get up-leveled in deals and your real-time feedback resonating right up to the CFO and CEO. Don't be surprised if in the middle of a meeting, suddenly the leadership is pulled into to listen to the valuable insight you are able to share based on how your perception of business drivers and ability to have tangible business conversations improves. I just can't rave enough about this book. I recommend it to anyone that I come in contact with and know that I will for many years to come.

This Book on Selling Is a Whole Lot More... And It Made Me Cry.

That was unexpected. So, for everyone else, here's fair warning: "The Joshua Principle" is a sneaky little book that will teach you about selling, about leadership, and even a little bit about yourself (if you let it). Be prepared to be challenged and stirred. And don't make the mistake I did of reading this in public unless you have a tissue handy.

For the purposes of this review, I'll focus on the book's primary emphasis -- improving sales. The book is a story, and the author is a gifted storyteller. This isn't one of those over-reaching parables where characters say and do things that are utterly unrealistic and laughable. It's not one of those dumbed-down anecdotes that takes forever to make a simple point. Nope. It's a genuine story that unfolds elegantly and is populated with characters you can relate to. It was a real plot and story arc, plus details that keep you engaged as you turn the pages from start to finish. It also has plenty of sales and leadership and self-awareness lessons, too. These are seamlessly integrated into the story. They aren't an intrusion or a destination as in most books that attempt to do what this one has done.

The sales lessons are summarized in the epilogue (for those who need help faster than they can read the 229-page story!). After reading the story, the epilogue is a great reinforcement and what's called out here is familiar and tangible. The summary lists stand alone, but the story is such a strong enrichment to the epilogue that reading the whole book is strongly recommended.

I won't post it here (so as not to spoil the read), but I am posting "The Joshua Principle" on my desk as a reminder of what I've read here. I've been selling and teaching others to sell for over 30 years, and this is presented in a way that is fresh and inspiring. I needed this! Maybe you do, too.

Good old classic

Reading this was at first a little slow but once you understood the style it was good reading. The writer gave you want great picture of life in cossack village and their freedoms.

pluses and minuses

Tolstoy's story is wonderful; descriptions exacting and intense; connections to emotion amazing. I worked almost three years in the Republic of Georgia, and the experiences of Dmetri Olenin remind me, in many ways, of my own in the Caucuses. Just as Tolstoy and Olenin, I was struck by the natural beauty and granduer of the mountains and countryside; the beauty, complexity and zest for life of the people. The Caucasus, however, is also a land of contradictions: beauty and ugliness, simplicity and complexity. Tolstoy experienced it and was able to put his experiences to paper beautifully. The excellent illustrations add to one's enjoyment of the text. I give the story and the illustrations FIVE STARS.
The translation, on the other hand, seems lacking and poor in many instances. I have little doubt that a better more precise translation would create a greater, more accurate understanding of Tolstoy's story and meaning. It appears that the translators sat down with a Russian-English dictionary and used the first word they encountered to use, without consideration of the flavor, mood, or setting of the text and culture Tolstoy is writing about. That is why I give this particular edition three stars.

Fairly good short work by Tolstoy

I'm a great fan of "War and Peace" and "Anna Karenina". This Tolstoy story is much shorter, and while good, is a little less interesting. The book mostly focuses on the simple story and gives less insight into the Cossack and Chechen cultures that I had hoped. The story seems to reflect the reports that Tolstoy had a desire to personally live among the "common" people.

This is an adult British cartoon book, meaning some of the humor is going to be quite off color. Of course you may have guessed that with the title. I gave it to my husband for father's day, and we both got some good chuckles out of it. As another reviewer said, it is very short.

This caption runs underneath a picture of an elderly woman in a rocking chair reading, while a boy looks at her trepidatiously.

If you find this sort of thing amusing, I suspect that like me, you'll very much enjoy this book. These comics are sort of like a British youngsters version of Dan Piraro's excellent "Bizarro." By making things deliberately topsy-turvy, Andy Riley gets us to think about the world in a different way.

And that's a good thing.

Some of Andy Riley's other works (The Bunny Suicides) were a bit darker and I was expecting something along those lines. This book is not meant for adults and should have a G rating. It would be appropriate to read to children who might enjoy the content and pictures. The book however just isn't that funny. A few pages elicited a chuckle, most came off flat, and a few were just "a reach" in my opinion.

What? Learning is entertaining too?

This is not the dry ethics textbook I remember from my school days; it is a whole new approach with human nature and the power of storytelling in mind. Before readers know it, they're personally involved in the interactive narratives, stories in which they get to make choices and then see the consequences. What a refreshing and entertaining approach! It has been months since I read this text, and I still remember specific actions and conversations between characters in the various stories. Reading and internalizing these scenarios are painless. The whole structure and design of the "The Brewsters" is ergonomics for the brain!

Sebastian Terry is the single-most unjaded "bloke" ever....that is simply following his heart. He takes you on his travels around the world, introduces you to one interesting character after another, and keeps you entertained with his quick, honest wit. Not only is the book so amazingly well written and easy to read, it is utterly captivating. The story of Sebastian Terry's 100 Things adventure will make you laugh, gasp, cry and even cringe at times, but mostly it is just so inspiring. The message that Sebastian is trying to get out there is so much deeper than 'make a list of crazy things to do' - it is about living life as the universe intended you to live it. Story after story illustrates how everything can fall into place if you have the courage to just let it happen. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to experience Sebastian Terry's amazing 100 Things journey documented in this book.
