This Book is a Lifesaver!

Chalfin's user-friendly guide to selling your IT business is a must for anyone in the complicated and often stressful position of putting his or her firm on the market. From illuminating the possible motives of the seller to providing a concise guide to marketing your business, this book gives sound and concrete advice.

You will not faced with an abstract, inaccessible microeconomics text, as some how-to works by business school faculty can turn out to be. Rather, you will finish this digestible book a more savvy and resourceful seller. To start with, you will be better equipped to evaluate whether it is the right time to sell your IT business in the first place. Chalfin also provides useful alternatives to an outright sale, such as partially selling to a third party, hiring a competent management team to take over operations, selling the firm to key employees, and liquidating the company. You will be better able to market your business, make changes to increase its appeal to buyers, and negotiate a satisfying sale. Chalfin illustrates how to gauge the seriousness and flexibility of an offer, an insight that can make your sale smoother and more predictable.

There is no reason to spend years building up your IT business only to lose out in the end because you lacked the necessary tools to bring about a successful sale. An Unbelievable Resource for IT Entrepreneurs

I have had the pleasure of getting to know Bob and had him as a professor at Wharton. He applies the same level of energy and enthusiasm that he brings in the classroom to this very practical book. I have had many people come up to me and tell me if they had only known Bob or read his book before they sold their business, they would be in a much different and better situation. His knowledge of the topic is unbelievable and he brings so much practical experience to his latest book. I hope everyone gets to experience the wonderful work Bob does by reading his new book.

I know I will share this book with many of my clients who are contemplating selling their businesses. Bob's work makes all of us more educated and provides yet another resource that will add value to our clients.

Great detailed account of the 32nd Infantry Division

My Grandfather served in the 127th Infantry Regiment in the 32nd Division during World War II and just recently passed away. He fought the Japanese in the battle for Luzon, in the Philippines. This book has excellent pictures, personnel rosters of the units and detailed accounts and maps of the actions and battles that the 32nd Division took part in during the War in the Pacific. This book portrays the intense combat and human struggle that those American heroes of the 32nd Division went through in the battle against tyranny. This book also serves as a detailed historical reminder to future generations of the great sacrifices that took place to protect our freedoms. I highly recommend this book to History and World War II buffs.

Great WW 2 US divisional history

Summary: A reprint of this American unit history. Originally published by the State of Wisconsin, this history traces the " RED ARROW " division from its activation in 1940 through combat in the SW Pacific , incl, New Guinea, Biak and the Philippine campaign. The 32d Infantry Division arrived in Australia 14 May 1942. The first element of the division to enter the combat zone by air for Port Moresby 16 September to be joined by other elements arriving by sea 28 September and by air 2 October. Units of the 32d were deployed defensively along the Goldie River on the left flank of the Australian garrison force for the Port Moresby area. Fighting along the Goldie River to protect the Australian left flank, the 32d drove the enemy back along the Kokoda Trail and stopped the enemy threat to Port Moresby. Elements were flown to the Buna area where they were joined, 15 November 1942, by the 2d Bn. of the 126th Infantry which had trekked over the Owen Stanley Mountains. The difficult struggle for Buna-Sanananda was completed, 22 January 1943, and the 32d returned to Australia for rest and training. On 2 January 1944, elements landed at Saidor, and helped to end enemy resistance, 14 April 1944. On 23 April, elements took part in the landing at Aitape, the Division arriving on 3 May. After meeting slight initial resistance, the 32d had to withstand savage counterattacks in the Drinumor River area. By 31 August Aitape was secured and the Division rested. Elements landed on Morotai on 15 September. The 32d CP opened at Hollandia, 1 October to stage for the Philippines. It landed on Leyte, 14 November, and went into action along the Pinamopoan-Ormoc highway, taking Limon and smashing the Yamashi ta line by bitter hand-to-hand combat. Union with elements of 1st Cavalry Division in the vicinity of Lonoy, 22 December, marked the collapse of enemy resistance in the upper Ormoc Valley. From Leyte the Division moved to Lingayen Gulf, Luzon, 27 January 1945. It pushed up the Villa Verde Trail, 30 January, and after more than 100 days of fighting took Imugan and met the 25th Infantry Division near Santa Fe, 28 May, securing Balete Pass, the gateway to the Cagayan Valley. While elements continued mopping-up activities near Imugan, other units moved to rest and rehabilitation centers. Active elements secured the Baguio area, wiped out enemy groups in the Agno River Valley area, and opened Highway 11 as a supply route. Operations ceased on 15 August 1945 and the Division moved to Japan for occupation duty 20 October. 2000 r/p ed, 6 x 9, hard bound , no dj as issued, 416 pages, 159 photos/drawings and 29 maps.

Exellent book about the division with rosters of soldiers included

This book provides an excellent overview of how this division was structured; its units and campaigns and rosters of Michigan and Wisconsin soldiers that made up its ranks.

Contains great photos and maps and is good reading if you have an interest in the 32nd Division.

The downside is that the prices asked for both used and new copies of this book by this company and its affiliates, and others, are ludicrous. It would be interesting to know what sets these exorbitant prices, however, this idiot paid them to get the book! A note to book suppliers is that there is an interesting concept that if prices were lower there there may be a greater turnover and if not, you haven't lost anything.

Written by a seminary in the field of Limnology, Ecology, and Aquatic Biology, Stanley Dodson's Limnology textbook is a complete reference of the above topics. Excellent illustrations and images, coupled with well-written text makes this text unusually accessible and useful throughout an undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate career. I've kept mine as a reference long after my Limnology course, and it has proved useful in writing a number of papers and as a professional reference.

I have been very pleased to read this book, I would like to have written it myself! It is well written, with precise details when a complete treatment is intended. It can be used as a high level course in University and is useful to experimentalists who, like me, look for precise theoretical formulations and formulas. Claude teaches Physics in University and participated in many experiments. Thus he is able to report on both aspects, including for example a detailed description of the recent discovery of the Higgs boson (2012).

About the Author
George Ritzer is Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland, where he has been a Distinguished Scholar-Teacher and won a Teaching Excellence award by the American Sociological Association, and in 2004, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by LaTrobe University, Melborune, Australia. He has served as Chair of the American Sociological Association's Sections on Theoretical Sociology and organizations and Occupations. He held the UNESCO Chair in Social Theory at the Russian Academy of Sciences, a Fulbright-Hay Chair at York University in Canada, and a Fulbright-Hays award to the Netherlands. He has been Scholar-in-Residence at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study and the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study in the Social Sciences. Dr. Ritzer's main theoretical interests lie in metatheory as well as applied social theory. In metatheory, his contributions include Metatheorizing in Sociology(Lexington Books, 1991), Sociology: A Multiple Paradigm Science (Allyn and Bacon, 1975, 1980), and Toward an Integrated Sociological Paradigm (Allyn and Bacon). Professor Ritzer is perhaps best known for the McDonaldization of Society (4/e, 2004); translated into more than a dozen languages) and several related books (also with a number of translations, including Expressing America: A Critique of the Global Credit Card Society (1995), Enchanting a Disenchanted World: Revolutionizing the Means of Consumption (2/e, 2005),The Globalization of Nothing (2/e, 2007), and (with Craig Lair) Outsourcing: Globalization and Beyond. He edited the Encyclopedia of Social Theory (2005), and is the founding editor of the Journal of Consumer Culture. He just completed editing the eleven-volume Encyclopedia of Sociology (2007) and The Blackwell Companion to Globalization (2007). In 2006, McGraw-Hill published the second edition of Professor Ritzer's Contemporary Sociological Theory and Its Classic Roots: The Basics. In 2007, McGraw-Hill will publish the seventh edition of Modern Sociological Theory, and the fifth edition of Classical Sociological Theory. The latter texts, as well as this one, have been translated into a number of languages.

An authentic, albeit short, review

I'm currently a senior majoring in Criminal Justice. Most of a CJ major is actually Sociology classes. As such, I've encountered both classic and contemporary sociological theories in most of my classes. The first thing I noticed about this book is that it's short. Less than 300 pages and smaller than most textbooks, Ritzer keeps things clear and concise. Really, what more do you want in a text? The book covers classical theories in brief, contemporary theories of everyday life and grand theories, integrative theories, feminist theories, globalization theory, and explores the newest developments in postmodern theories. Ritzer's own work on McDonaldization and consumption theory are covered as well.

Bottom line: This is a well-written, clearly communicated book covering contemporary sociological theory.

End of the Line

This is the final volume in the THUNDER Agents set. It's not old Tower Comics material, but the follow-on "Wally Wood's THUNDER Agents" and a one-shot post-Cold War reboot. Scripting is good. Artwork is (mostly) very good. The rating is poor because these are not complete stories. Both "Wally Wood's" and the later one-shot--which has serious continuity issues with the original series--end on cliffhangers. Add a separate "Lightning" cliffhanger in "Wally Wood's" and you get three story arcs which will never be completed, not to mention a new Menthor whose origins we'll never know.

I'm not selling mine. I'm a completist and eventually I'll have them all. Also some of the short stories worked within the arc. It was good to see Rusty (the Iron Maiden) again, for instance. But buy it because you enjoy the journy. You'll never reach the destination.
