About the Author

Neil Z. Miller is a medical research journalist and Director of the Thinktwice Global Vaccine Institute. He has devoted the past 25 years to educating parents and health practitioners about vaccines, encouraging informed consent and non-mandatory laws. He is the author of several books on vaccines, including Miller's Review of Critical Vaccine Studies (2016),�Vaccine Safety Manual for Concerned Families and Health Practitioners, Make an Informed Vaccine Decision for the Health of Your Child (with Dr. Mayer Eisenstein) and Vaccines: Are They Really Safe and Effective? Past organizations that he has lectured for include the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, the International College of Integrative Medicine, Autism One, Maximized Living, and the Culture of Life Institute. Please read the book before condemning. The anti vaccine science is strong.

I actually read the book, which I think you will find far different than the naysayers who will attack Miller instead of the content. The content of this book is HIGHLY relevant, and highly valuable for anyone looking for the non-mainstream view and science surrounding vaccines. May I remind you of the fact that those of us opposing fluoride in our water 40 years ago were also referred to as "loons". Today, with the science of this municipal poisoning program coming forward, we have learned that fluoridation is not a wise idea. Even Israel has jumped off the fluoride bandwagon. Miller gives you an opportunity to decide, based on published research NOT OF HIS OWN, if you want to be part of the (forced) vaccine bandwagon for the next 40 years until we might have a paradigm shift here. Or, perhaps allowing you to see that you just might be playing Russian Roulette with your child with vaccines.

Read this book! It will open your eyes.

Wow! That was my initial response as I read the peer-reviewed studies in this book. It contains more than 400 scientific papers that are critical of vaccines. There is one study per page with bullet points that summarize the purpose of the study and its findings. (Some pages have two studies.) Each page also has a quote taken directly from the authors of the study. Many of the studies are published in highly respected medical journals, such as the New England Journal of Medicine, the British Medical Journal, Clinical Infectious Diseases, Emerging Infectious Diseases, the American Journal of Epidemiology, Pediatrics, etc.�

My friends and relatives honestly thought there were no studies showing that vaccines could be harmful, but that’s not true. For example, in one study scientists analyzed the health records of 413,000 children and found that the MMR vaccine significantly increases the chance of a child needing emergency care. Several studies show that MMR increases the risk of seizures and other serious health conditions. Other studies show that vaccinated people can spread disease. Some vaccines have caused the disease to mutate into more virulent strains and the vaccine does not work against the new strains. (In the media, unvaccinated people are often blamed for the spread of disease but the studies tell a different story and herd immunity may not be possible.) Several studies show that thimerosal and aluminum, components used in many vaccines, can cause developmental delays, neurological problems and autoimmunity. (Many pregnant women and babies in the USA still receive flu vaccines with thimerosal, which has mercury. In Africa, several child vaccines still have mercury.) Some of the studies in this book show that many doctors and nurses do not immunize their own children with some vaccines and delay immunizations for other diseases. And several studies show that parents who do not immunize their children are highly educated when compared to parents who strictly follow the recommended immunization schedule.

Do not be fooled by staunch defenders of “immunization at any price.” This is the one vaccine book that they truly do not want you to read because when you read it your eyes and mind will be opened and you will realize in a profound way that you have not been told the whole truth about vaccines. Do not be fooled by those who call the author names, resort to ad hominem attacks, or say he has no credibility. They are trying very hard to stop you from reading this book. They know it will jar you awake. The author is a medical research journalist with 25 years of experience researching vaccines. Anyway, the book does not contain personal opinions. It is an objective summary of 400 peer-reviewed studies that were published in medical journals. Of course, the studies that the author includes in this book do not support vaccination, but he openly writes in the introduction that his goal was to gather important studies that are critical of vaccines, studies that describe “risks, detriments and tradeoffs” associated with vaccines, and he recommends that you supplement this book with information and studies provided by the CDC, the World Health Organization and the pharmaceutical companies that manufacture vaccines.

The foreword to this book was written by Gary Goldman, PhD, an expert on the varicella-chickenpox vaccine. He worked for the CDC as an Epidemiology Analyst for eight years until the CDC tried to block him from publishing data that they wished to keep covered up. He resigned from his work with the CDC because he did not want to participate in research fraud. There was a legal battle and the data was eventually published. It is a fascinating story that provides insight into how important studies may be suppressed.�

If you are considering immunizations, you must read this book. If you are a doctor who supports compulsory immunizations, you should read this book. It may be the most important book that you will ever read. This book is a blessing for anyone seeking scientific evidence about vaccines.

Miller’s Review of Critical Vaccine Studies, a Valuable Resource

Vaccines are safe and effective, right?

Not according to the CDC’s own studies and not according to hundreds of other studies conducted around the world.

Miller’s Review of Critical Vaccine Studies summarizes the findings of 400 vaccine-related scientific papers. Considered one by one, the findings are disturbing. For example:

“Thimerosal-containing vaccines continue to be administered on a regular basis to potentially the most vulnerable populations: pregnant women and children (especially in developing countries). Given this, we believe it is high time to reassess the rationale for using thimerosal, a known immune and neurotoxic substance, in human vaccines.”

In particular, they need to know of the possibility that repeated vaccinations may increase the risk of adverse effects.”

“Under universal varicella vaccination, there has been a vaccine-induced decline in exogenous boosting. We estimate universal varicella vaccination has the impact of an additional 14.6 million herpes-zoster cases among adults aged under 50 years during a 50-year time span at a substantial cost burden of 4.1 billion U.S. dollars or 80 million U.S. dollars annually.”

Most disturbing are the numerous studies cited in Miller’s book that expose the truth about pro-vaccine “science.” Following are a few examples:

Chinese doctors of antiquity have strongly asserted a great many times that, "Medicine is connected to the I Ching."

Sun Si-Miao said, "Without understanding the I Ching, it is not possible to become a supreme doctor.

Zhang Jie-bin said, "The theory of the Nei Jing is based on the theory of the I Ching." And, "If the theory of the I Ching is not clear, neither can one know the Nei Jing clearly."

Based on these statements, a literature developing in China called yi yi or medical I (Ching). This is exemplified by Tand Zong-hai's Clarifying Words on Medicine and the I Ching; Li Yu-cun's A Guide to the Reasoning of the Medical I Ching; and Shao Tong-zhen's medicine and I Ching, One Theory amongst a number of other books.

The importance of the I Ching in medicine is still reiterated today. Sifu Tsuei Wei has said, "If the Nei Jing is the door to the treasure house of Chinese medical classics, then the I Ching is its key."

About the Author
Miki Shima is a 48-year-old Japanese practitioner of acupuncture, moxibustion, herbal medicine and the medical I Ching and I live in Corte Madera, California, USA. He was trained by traditional methods in Tokyo and Osaka: in acupuncture by Dr Tadashi Irie; in herbal medicine by Dr Terutane Yamada; and in the medical I Ching by Dr Sango Kobayshi.

Miki came to California in 1978 after teaching traditional Chinese medical philosophy at the University of Michigan for 2 years, and passed the State Board in 1979. He was later appointed to the California Acupuncture examining Committee for 7 years, and worked as President of the California Acupuncture Association for 2 years.

In 1987, he established the Japanese-American Acupuncture Foundation (JAAF) in California and since then has taught over 120 clinical workshops across the United States. He has also produced three clinical video-tapes from his past workshops on the subject of Japanese needling techniques.

I just got the book. Well, I Ching is much more than a book. First of all I got it two weeks before that I expect it. And for now, as I could see, this I Ching is magnificent. most depressive reading I ever had

I have heard about this book through my bioenergetic circle and as we are working with iching a lot, looked forward to read it, purchased it to be more informed about medical side of it.

For me it turned out to be very confusing in technics, and awful depressive in explanation. After having tried to read it for 2 hours I have thrown it away as soon as I reached the wastebin. Not that I easily throw books away, normally I admit that the book can be not for me for the moment, though there was something really negative in it, I did not even want to show it to anyone to get someone elses opinion. Hope there will be more positive books on medical iching.

Great for artists

Just as advertised this book has a huge variety of plants to work with. We will be using this book for tattoo reference and it is perfect for this purpose. The images could be used pretty much as is for blackwork. The only critique I have is the paper isn't the highest quality. I wouldn't recommend it for a "high traffic" library. There are two artists in our household so this won't be the case for us. The paper quality is the same for any paperback book you will buy on Amazon, the prices are GREAT but the paper is a little easier to tear. It's a trade off I can easily live with. Great buy for a quieter library.

Gorgeous large illustrations, neatly organized by categories. LOVE how every item is conveniently identified in the index (maybe a handful of the 2400 are labeled unidentified)--very easy to look up the item in the index, it's organized by page and each illustration is assigned a number. I also love how there's extra sections for plant related stuff like ornate pots, green houses, and plants as frames like borders. Overall, excellent purchase.

Wynn Kapit is the designer of the The Anatomy Coloring Book, The Physiology Coloring Book, and The Geography Coloring Book. Mr. Kapit received a B.B.A. and an L.L.B. from the University of Miami and an M.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Lawrence M. Elson, Ph.D. is a clinical and forensic human anatomist who taught at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, the University of California Medical School at San Francisco, and the City College of San Francisco. Dr. Elson is the founder and president of Coloring Concepts, Inc., and the director of graphic and textual content of its several publications.

About the Author

Wynn Kapit graduated in 1955 from the University of Miami, Florida with honors in Business Administration and Law. He then attended Art Center School in Los Angeles and worked in New York as a graphic designer and advertising art director from 1960-66. He moved to California to pursue a painting career and was given a one-man show at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco in 1968. He then attended the University of California at Berkeley and received a Masters in Painting and worked as a portraitist and teacher of figure drawing.

While taking a class in human anatomy at San Francisco City College, he discovered a way to effectively learn the subject by coloring in drawings, diagrams and names. The teacher of the course, Lawrence Elson, Ph.D. agreed to help him produce a coloring book. Elson wrote and Kapit designed and illustrated The Anatomy Coloring Book, which was published in 1977 and has been a widely-translated bestseller ever since. The Physiology Coloring Book was published in 1987, with the assistance of two professors from Berkeley: Robert Macey and Esmail Meisami. The Geography Coloring Book was published in 1991; Kapit drew the maps and wrote the text. The Anatomy Coloring Book was published in a second edition in 1993, and second editions of Geography and Physiology Coloring Books will be published in 1997.

Lawrence M. Elson received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley in Zoology (Pre-Med), and completed his graduate and Ph.D. work in Human Anatomy also at the University of California, Berkeley. Elson has served as an instructor in human anatomy at the City College of San Francisco, an assistant professor of anatomy at Baylor College of Medicine, and as a lecturer at numerous additional universities and professional organizations.

Elson is the founder and president of Coloring Concepts, Inc. (CCI), producer and packager of college level, educational, scientific directed-coloring texts. He is the author/co-author of the Anatomy Coloring Book, Human Brain Coloring Book, Zoology Coloring Book, and Microbiology Coloring Book.

Presently, he is principally functioning as a clinical and forensic anatomist retained as a consultant to governments, provinces, insurance and other corporations, and law firms on causation of injury issues in cases in or anticipated to be involved in litigation.

Future plans include expanding CCI by developing new titles in the physical sciences and other education-related disciplines.

Learning Hints, not previously stated by others

IMPORTANT: Make sure you READ ALL the information in the section labeled "INTRODUCTION TO COLORING" BEFORE you start coloring your first page. This is located on pages "xii" and "xiii" in the front of the 4th edition. This book is very well thought out and there really is a "method to the madness" if you actually read and follow the directions.
I've found it beneficial to read through all the NAMES first, checking for parts that have similar names. Second, choose SIMILAR COLORS for SIMILAR NAMES or FUNCTIONS. For example, I chose Red, Orange and Yellow for the "Levators"; 2 colors of Blue for the "Zygomaticus Major" and "Zygomaticus Minor"' and 2 shades of Brown for the "Depressors" (page 44). Then look over the basic diagram to get a feel for the order which they appear in the body. Assign the colors in order by location in the diagram. For instance, go from back to front as follows: Red (back), Orange (middle) then Yellow (front). This natural color transition helps solidify the order they appear from postier to anterior or superior to inferior (whatever the case may be) etc. NOTE: I realize this takes extra time planning your colors, but it really makes it easier to memorize when there is a consistant plan in place for what the colors visually symbolize.
Finally, color in the Name First then repeat the names while coloring in that particular portion of the diagram. . I also underline the names on the left page the same as the diagram color - just makes it faster to locate if I want to look for something later...not necessary, but nice.
I pre-ordered my book as I wanted the newest edition. I LOVE MY BOOK and ended up having to order a couple of extras as gifts for my "nurse" friends who wanted a fun way to refresh their memory too!

EXACTLY what I wanted!

What a great book! Very detailed in it's drawings, and labeling. It tells you how to color a small amount of the specific part you are coloring, and then it tells you to use lite colors on the rest. So on the rest, you can use what ever colors you want.

I also bought Crayola 50ct Long Colored Pencils to use,(like another reviewer suggested) and they are perfect!

Amazing! Gave me an "A" in my A&P

I had a less than stellar grade in my A&P lab, 78%, and brought it up to a 92% within 3 weeks, all thanks to this book. You have to read the directions on the colouring pages to get the full effect. It does give a lot of freedom for colour choice, though.

I photocopy the pages so I can colour multiple times, and sometimes I white out the names so I can practice labelling all the parts. The effect for me has been marvellous.

"I WAKE up and perform the usual rituals—brushing my teeth, getting dressed for work, going into the children’s bedroom to wake them up, making break- fast for everyone, smiling, and saying how good life is. In every minute and gesture I feel a weight I can’t identify, like an ani- mal who can’t quite understand how it got caught in the trap. My food has no taste. My smile, on the other hand, grows even wider so that no one will suspect, and I swallow my desire to cry. The light outside seems gray. Yesterday’s conversation did no good at all; I’m starting to think that I’m headed out of the indignant phase and straight into apathy.

And does no one notice?

Of course not. After all, I’m the last person in the world to admit that I need help.

This is my problem; the volcano has exploded and there’s no way to put the lava back inside, plant some trees, mow the grass, and let the sheep out to graze.

I don’t deserve this. I’ve always tried to meet everyone’s expectations. But now it’s happened and I can’t do anything about it except take medication. Perhaps today I’ll come up with an excuse to write an article about psychiatry and social security (the newspaper loves that kind of thing) and find a good psychiatrist to ask for help. I know that’s not ethical, but then not everything is.

I don’t have an obsession to occupy my mind—for exam- ple, dieting or being OCD and finding fault with the clean- ing lady who arrives at eight in the morning and leaves at five in the afternoon, having washed and ironed the clothes, and tidied the house, and, sometimes, having even done the shopping, too. I can’t vent my frustrations by trying to be Super- mom, because my children would resent me for the rest of their lives.

I go off to work and again see the neighbor polishing his car. Wasn’t he doing that yesterday?

Unable to resist, I go over and ask him why.

“It wasn’t quite perfect,” he says, but only after having said “Good morning,” asking about the family, and noticing what a pretty dress I’m wearing.

I look at the car. It’s an Audi—one of Geneva’s nicknames is, after all, Audiland. It looks perfect, but he shows me one or two places where it isn’t as shiny as it should be.

I draw out the conversation and end up asking what he thinks people are looking for in life.

“Oh, that’s easy enough. Being able to pay their bills. Buying a house like yours or mine. Having a garden full of trees. Having your children or grandchildren over for Sunday lunch. Traveling the world once you’ve retired.”

Is that what people want from life? Is it really? There’s something very wrong with this world, and it isn’t just the wars going on in Asia or the Middle East.

Before I go to the newspaper, I have to interview Jacob, my ex-boyfriend from high school. Not even that cheers me up. I really am losing interest in things.

I LISTEN to facts about government policy that I didn’t even want to know. I ask a few awkward questions, which he deftly dodges. He’s a year younger than me, but he looks five years older. I keep this thought to myself. Of course, it’s good to see him again, although he hasn’t yet asked me what’s happened in my life since we each went our own way after graduation. He’s entirely focused on himself, his career, and his future, while I find myself staring foolishly back at the past as if I were still the adolescent who, despite the braces on my teeth, was the envy of all the other girls. After a while, I stop listening and go �on autopilot. Always the same script, the same promises- reducing taxes, combating crime, keeping the French (the so-called cross-border workers who are taking jobs that Swiss workers could fill) out. Year after year, the issues are the same and the problems continue unresolved because no one really cares. After twenty minutes of conversation, I start to wonder if my lack of interest is due to my strange state of mind. No. There is nothing more tedious than interviewing politicians. It would have been better if I’d been sent to cover some crime or another. Murderers are much more real.

Compared to representatives of the people anywhere else on the planet, ours are the least interesting and the most insipid. No one wants to know about their private lives. Only two things create a scandal here: corruption and drugs. Then it takes on gigantic proportions and gets wall-to-wall cover- age because there’s absolutely nothing else of interest in the newspapers.

Does anyone care if they have lovers, go to brothels, or come out as gay? No. They continue doing what they were elected to do, and as long as they don’t blow the national bud- get, we all live in peace.

The president of the country changes every year (yes, every year) and is chosen not by the people, but by the Federal Council, a body comprising seven ministers who serve as Switzerland’s collective head of state. Every time I walk past the museum, I see endless posters calling for more plebiscites.

The Swiss love to make decisions—the color of our trash bags (black came out on top), the right (or not) to carry arms (Switzerland has one of the highest gun-ownership rates in the world), the number of minarets that can be built in the country (four), and whether or not to provide asylum for expatriates (I haven’t kept pace with this one, but I imagine the law was approved and is already in force).

“Excuse me, sir.”

We’ve been interrupted once already. He politely asks his assistant to postpone his next appointment. My newspaper is the most important in French-speaking Switzerland and this interview could prove crucial for the upcoming elections.

He pretends to convince me and I pretend to believe him.

Then I get up, thank him, and say that I have all the mate- rial I need.

“You don’t need anything else?” Of course I do, but it’s not up to me to tell him what. “How about getting together after work?” I explain that I have to pick up my children from school, hoping that he sees the large gold wedding ring on my finger declaring: “Look, the past is the past.”

“Of course. Well, maybe we can have lunch someday.”

I agree. Easily deceived, I think: Who knows, maybe he does have something of importance to tell me, some state secret that will change the politics of the country and make the editor look at me with new eyes.

He goes over to the door, locks it, then comes back and kisses me. I return his kiss, because it’s been a long time. Jacob, whom I may have once loved, is now a family man, married to a professor. And I am a family woman, married to a man who, though he inherited his wealth, is extremely hardworking.

I consider pushing him away and saying that we’re not kids anymore, but I’m enjoying it. Not only did I discover a new Japanese restaurant, I’m having a bit of illicit fun as well. I’ve managed to break the rules and the world hasn’t caved in on me. I haven’t felt this happy in a long time.

I feel better and better, braver, freer. Then I do something I’ve dreamed of doing since I was in school.

Easy to Misunderstand, Dangerous to Put Down.

It would be easy to assume this is simply a book about sex and adultery. But people often misunderstand the depths of those things, and thus this is a book of deeper allure and meaning.

This is a story about a woman mad with loneliness and boredom and disconnection, driven to the brink and willing to risk it all to find something more—adventure, passion, redemption, herself. She is not someone you will admire, and she will seem at times superficial and disgusting, but you will understand her. And despite her wealth and ugliness, despite her weakness, her indiscretion, her bizarre thinking, you might just learn something from her. And that is why this is a book for anyone in a relationship. What relationship doesn't get ugly at times?

What Coelho does so brilliantly in "Adultery" is pace its story with its main character’s life, struggles, and personality. And so it feels a bit boring and stifled at first, then it shocks and overreacts, then it has trouble finding itself, and then, finally, after all those relationship troubles and veiled justifications, it lifts and soars. For these reasons, people will want to stop reading when it feels slow, trite, or impossible. But there is danger in putting a Coelho book down, for in the end he always surprises us and teaches us. Anyone in love or after love can learn something from this book.

what is happiness?

ok... just finished Adultery and I really liked it. It's a different style/genre for Coelho but I did truly enjoy it. You do have to be open-minded to read it though... I feel like the negative reviews I've read might be coming from scorned people or those that can't see "outside" the box. It is as the title suggest about sex outside the marriage but that's not the message of the book. And if that's all you get then you didn't really read the book... I think it's about self-discovery. About self-acceptance and self-love. The most important in life to truly be happy. No one else can nor should be responsible for that but yourself.

Adultery

To say this is a book about a woman committing adultery is to miss the whole point of the story I feel. Linda lives in Switzerland with her husband and two children - none of whom are ever named. She has a good life, and an interesting job as a journalist and as a family they are financially secure with domestic staff to look after the children and do the housework. Who could want anything more from life?

But Linda is restless and bored. It would be all too easy to dismiss Linda as shallow but she is far more than that. I'm sure many readers will put the book down in disgust saying she should count her blessings and no one could want more in life. Things are not as simple as that. Linda feels she is plodding along from day to day with nothing exciting in her life - everything is just dull. She wonders if she is depressed but she doesn't think she is. She wonders whether she needs to see a psychiatrist but doesn't think that will work either.

It must be difficult to empathise with Linda unless you yourself have felt that sort of restlessness. I have felt it and it resulted in me turning my life upside down and doing some things which maybe were not a good idea though they seemed the only right thing to do at the time. What lesson you take from this strangely absorbing book - because there are lessons to be learned from it even if your life in no way resembles Linda's - are always going to be personal. But what I think is important is to not let yourself slip into a rut because if you get in too deep then the only way out is going to be to upend your life and those of the people you love.

This is a book which needs the reader to do some hard thinking about their own lives and to be aware that restlessness and boredom can lead to constructive change or it can lead to destruction. Everyone has their own agenda and if you're using them they may equally be using you. Thoughtful and thought provoking - this book may well repay a second or third reading.
